Root Canals

Gentle Root Canal Therapy

Don’t let tooth pain keep you down! If an extreme toothache, painful sensitivity, or a terrible taste in your mouth have become your new normal, you may have an infection or decay deep within the tooth. Don’t suffer through the discomfort, though. A root canal might solve your dental woes and get you smiling again. We know they have a reputation for being painful, but we work hard to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

Do You Need a Root Canal?

The best way for our team to determine if you need a root canal is to bring you in for an exam and X-rays. However, if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, give us a call so we can schedule an appointment as soon as possible:

  • Pain in a specific tooth or area that comes on suddenly
  • New sensitivity to extreme temperatures
  • Pain with pressure or chewing
  • Discoloration on teeth or gums
  • Isolated tenderness or swelling
  • Persistent bad taste in mouth

The Root Canal Process

If we find that you do need a root canal because of damage, infection, or extreme decay, we can complete the procedure here in our Bronx dentist’s office. We thoroughly numb the area before we begin, so all you should feel while we work is a bit of pressure. To start, we drill an access hole into the affected tooth. Through this hole, we clean out each of the root canals of the tooth, removing the pulp to clear out any damage or decay. Once the canals are clear, we fill them with a medicated solution to treat and prevent infection. Finally, we place a filling in the access hole to keep out food particles and other potentially damaging things. We also recommend that you have a crown placed over the tooth after the procedure to give the tooth extra strength and protection.
